Good day! My fellow good stemians!
Today I'm going to uncover what's behind the poem I have written the "Barefooted".
I was a boy back then! (haha kidding!) I was a member of BSP (Boy Scout of the Philippines) it is a national Scout organization established to form Scouting troops for Filipinos, bearing an effective leadership training program and values formation and imbue the youth the love of God, country and fellow men.
To strongly connect with the communities, we organize a community outreach to help and serve the needs of local youth, especially those people in need and who lives in rural and remote areas. To tell you it was fulfilling and priceless!
Our team gathered to organize Feeding Program to the grade-school pupils of "Daan Banwang Elementary School", Barangay Upper Labay, Malapatan Sarangani, Philippines.
From General Santos City Proper we travelled to Malapatan, Sarangani and it takes 30 to 45 minutes without stop overs. Sad but some of my teammates are pigs, haha! so we had a stop over in a store a long the highway to feed their hungry worms.
At exactly 12 noon we arrived at Barangay Upper Labay but not exactly where the school is placed. 10 minutes from the concrete road of Upper Labay we arrived at the starting point of the trail ,we got to across four rivers , yes guys, Four rivers, (i was like how was that?) so we get off of the vehicle and pack and distribute all the things we need after that we started walking, so guys this is a sort of hiking. And I am loving it.
First river ,as you can see our vehicle behind my back.
This was the starting point of the trail.
The second one, you'll see the struggle of carrying the supplies.
The third one, i have got to take a shot before i reached the other side of the river
Crossing the rivers takes one and half hour but here we are enjoying and we can't take that smile out of our faces :) Happy to serve the community!
Some of us won't last long in the mud so we decided to tke off our shoes, slippers and walk with barefoot
After crossing the rivers, were gonna walk in the mud path and we are going up ,the road was so slippery and the slope and gravity of the road was pulling us down so we all did was fighting againts the force until we reach the plains and it takes one hour. But still the smile wasn't fading! :)
Along the road, you'll see it in the picture. The picture says it all, the poverty, scarcity and adversity they've been facing, deprived of what a normal child should have, too young to work at their limited forces. A child should be at home playing toys, go to school, doing homework but them they do the work enable to survive the day and each day of their lives, they maybe deprived of other things but in some ways they are fortunate especially the life they are living, way too far from millenials.
Quater to 3pm we arrived at the said school, seeing the kids and their faces full of excitement gives me extra energy. Worth the sweat.
I was the one serving the food for the kids.
Child is child, they are so special, who knows someday one of them might bring a better future.
Its overwhelming to see them happy. We also have give aways and games for them hoping that it could help with that little amount we gave.
There is no greater feeling other than serving and giving back to the community!
WORTH THE SWEAT. 😄🙌💪👍
REASONS BEHIND MY BURNS. ITS ALL WORTH IT.
I AM LOOKING FORWARD FOR MORE OUTREACH PROGRAMS. HOPE YOU WOULD HELP.
