Dozens Of New Hemp Research Projects Recently Get Approved

in hemp •  8 years ago

At least 16 different hemp research projects in Pennsylvania have recently received approval from the Department of Agriculture. The projects are seeking to explore the possible uses for industrial hemp (said to be thousands) and the viability of the crop.

Industrial hemp is said to be a billion-dollar crop easily, as the product can be used for a myriad of products like food, rope, beverages, paper, clothing, insulation, and much more.

Previous reports have found that there might be something like 25,000 possible different uses for hemp. Considering the vast amount of benefit that this crop might be able to provide, it's rather mind-numbing to think about how various jurisdictions and federal authorities still haven't yet embraced its capabilities fully. And in many circumstances they would rather fight against it.

But that is slowly changing, as an increasing number of states are looking to pursue industrial hemp growing, research projects, and more. Just recently a research program bill also passed in the Arkansas House (House Bill 1778), and there are other movements around the US as well to try and bring back industrial hemp farming.

Thanks to the number of projects being launched in Pennsylvania, the state really has a chance to be able to demonstrate the positive capabilities that can be reaped if more were to embrace industrial hemp farming.
