Herbal Tea Preparation: Prepare a herbal tea for digestion or stress/anxiety. Documenting the steps, proportions, and effects felt after drinking them.

Ok now I will share a herbal tea recipe with you all, one that we often use at home for digestion. This tea is especially helpful after a heavy meal or when we feel bloated. It’s simple to make and very effective for soothing digestion. So let's start.

Ingredients I used :

Fennel Seeds – 1 tablespoon (for making one cup)

Ginger – a small piece, grated (fresh ginger is best)

Dried Mint – a few leaves

Lemongrass – a few pieces (we grow lemongrass at our farmhouse, cut it into small pieces, and dry it in the shade to store)

Preparation Steps:

1. First,I took cup of water and pour it into a pan.

2. Then I aded fennel seeds, ginger, dried mint leaves, and lemongrass.

3. I let the mixture simmer on low heat and cover the pan to allow the flavors to steep thoroughly.

4. Once the water turns a light yellow color and has a pleasant aroma, remove it from the heat.

5. Pour it into a cup and enjoy your tea warm.

This herbal tea has a light and refreshing taste, which makes it very soothing. After drinking it, a light walk helps boost its efects on digestion. I feel a sense of relief and lightness in my stomach, and it allows food to digest more easily.

This tea also makes me feel refreshed, and sometimes I even feel a little hungry afterward, indicating improved digestion.

Herbal Storage: Research the best ways to store herbs at home; take pictures of your storage method and explain why it works.

There are many effective methods for storing herbs, which we all use in everyday life and have been popular for generations.

So here’s how I store both fresh and dried herbs to keep them usable for longer periods:

How I store Fresh Herbs

For fresh herbs like mint and coriander, I use a simple method to keep them fresh:

  1. Mint Leaves: I place a bit of water in a shallow plate and spread the mint leaves over it. Then, I store the plate in the fridge. This keeps the mint fresh for many days, and it retains its vibrant look and aroma.

  1. Flowers: Recently, I used a similar method to preserve flowers, including roses, so I could enjoy their scent for multiple days. I placed water in a plate, aranged the flowers on it, and stored it in the fridge. This kept the flowers fresh for around 3 to 4 days, so I acn enjoy their fragrance each day.

How I store dried Herbs

For dried herbs, I take a different approach:

  1. Drying Process: After drying herbs like basil and thyme, I store them in airtight glass jars. I ensure these jars are tightly seled to prevent moisture and air from entering, which can reduce the potency of the herbs.

  1. Storage Location: I keep the jars in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight, as this helps maintain the herbs’ flavor and aroma for a longer time.

These simple methods have really helped me keep both fresh and dried herbs usable for longer periods. Whether it's keeping mint leaves fresh in water or storing dried herbs in airtight jars,.

I always have herbs on hand whenever I need them, whether it’s for cooking or just enjoying their fragrance around the house.

Home Remedy Creation: Create your own herbal remedy for a common cold documenting the ingredients, preparation steps, and your experience.

I will share a beneficial herbal remedy that we make at home for sore throats and colds, especially during the winter when colds are common. This tea has proven to be effective, often working faster than many over he counter syrups. Here’s how I prepare it:

Ingredients:

1 cup of water

2 cloves

5–6 lemongrass leaves

1 small piece of ginger, sliced

1 small piece of licorice root (Mulathi)

1/2 teaspoon honey

Preparation Steps:

1. In a pan, add 1 cup of water.

2. Add the ginger, cloves, lemongrass leaves, and licorice root.

3. Bring the mixture to a boil and then let it simmer until it turns a light yellow color.

4. Pour into a cup and add honey.

Specially I made this tea for my younger sister, who is suffering from a sore throat and cold. We’ve used this remedy many tims, so I knew it would be helpful.

After drinking it, she felt quick relief in her throat, her soreness reduced, and she was able to rest comfortably. By the next day, her fever had imprved, and her throat felt significantly better.

Herbal Infusion Experiment: Infuse two different herbs (one for digestion and one for stress/anxiety) in water. Document the process, duration, and your thoughts on the end result.

For this experiment, I decided to infuse two different herbs in water: one for digestion and the other for stress and anxiety.

Herb for Digestion:

I chose fennel (sonf) because I know it helps with digestion. We often use fennel after meals to aid digestion, so I thought it would be perfect for this experiment. To make the infusion, I filled a small bowl halfway with water and added a little fennel.

I let it soak for about 25 minutes. After drinking the water, I felt really refreshed, and it seemed to help with digestion. My father also takes fennel after meals whenever he feels indigestion.

He mixes it with a bit of sugar to make it taste better. It’s his go to remedy after a heavy meal, and it really helps him feel better ao I know it's also great to drink after meals or before bed to help settle the stomach and even boost our immune system.

Herb for Stress and Anxiety:

For stress and anxiety, I went with mint leaves. Mint is so soothing, and I love its fresh, calming scent. I added a handful of mint leaves to a bowl of water and let it sit for about 30 minutes.

The smell of the mint filled the water, and I could tell it was full of all the relaxing properties mint has. After drinking it, I felt a lot more at ease. It’s a great way to reduce stress after a hectic day or whenever you need to unwind.

Both infusions worked really well. These simple herbal remedies are easy to prepare and have great benefits for both the body and mind. I’ll definitely be making these again.
