The development of shopping centres also helps with the basic infrastructure. It even gives people access to other facilities such as banks, groceries, postal offices and offices. The reason why this helps so much is that it brings traffic to these areas and attracts more people so the area grows exponentially. The two main malls that Nthwese opened up is still a huge success and continues to help with the growth of the infrastructure. These two malls are known as the Bambanani shopping centre in Diepsloot and the Thulamahashe mall in Bushbuckridge
The first was the Bambanani shopping centre in Diepsloot and it was opened in 2017. This project gave a total of 120 full-time jobs to the local rural community members and many other advantages came as well. The project even contributed to the life quality of the community and improved it. During the development of the shopping centre Herbert’s company Nthwese used local stores and even employed the people of the community. The shopping centre acts as a generator for this community and provides long term job creation.

The second was the Thulamahashe mall in Bushbuckridge and it was opened in October 2018 and was seen as another milestone in Herbert Theledi’s journey. Nthwese Developments was in partnership with Twin City Development for this massive project. The goal of creating this mall was to benefit the rural community. It provided many jobs for people in the community and gave sustainability. During the project upgrades were made to the infrastructure of the community including the roads, sewers and electricity and this all was done to benefit the community. As much as possible of the community participation was needed for this project. The mall compromises of 8% smaller local retailers. This shows more clearly that Herbert has a dual focus in life and that is generating profits and helping with the improvement of rural communities.
Herbert has shown his empathy throughout his career and his passion to uplift the rural communities. This is all shown in many ways through development. He is a passionate leader as he makes a positive impact on the lives of less fortunate people.
