On the Border of Israel and Syria in the Golan Heights is Mount Hermon.

This is the most probable place of the Mount of Transfiguration in the New Testament .

On planning our trip to Israel, this was one of the most important places we wanted to visit. So very early in the morning we left Tiberias and drove about two hours north. I would have been satisfied to have only walked in the foothills of this sacred mountain. Little did we know that the way became open for us to summit it!

Seems like such an interesting trip, visiting all the interesting places in Israel, and looking at their natural scenery

Judging by your attire , you climbed the Mountain as well?

Well look out for my next post to see what happened...

I was about to say that I doubt the Hermon identification of the MoT, but then I refreshed my memory and saw that the events immediately preceding took place in Caesarea Phillippi, which is much closer to the Hermon than to Tabor (the other leading suggestion). So yeah.

Hope you enjoyed your trip and that folks treated you right here!

You are absolutely right. Mount Hermon is a more likely possibility than Mount Tabor because of the events that transpired beforehand.

As you describe the experience you had, it makes me long to be there. One of my bucket list items. Im sure the feeling is surreal?

Totally! Kept reminding myself that we were really there, visiting places of Biblical significance from both the Old and New Testaments including where Jesus Christ had walked. So awesome but humbling at the same time.

Truly moving. I wish I could join you. It would be interesting to visit Mount Hermon one day too.
