Day # whatever. My life as a lunch lady. Strange today.

I had a weird day today. Lots of drama at work, and so I kept phasing out. I would find myself standing still, staring into nowhere.

Just lost into a pocket of nothingness. It was the opposite of "lost in thought." I was lost in NO thoughts. Much like this:

It was a slow day because it's the last day of school until after the holidays, so there weren't as many kids there today. They shut down my line and only ran line 2, so I had no kids to serve.

So, all I did all day was clean stuff. I cleaned the food warmers, I cleaned the walls, the floors, the tables.. the windows, the dishwashers, the ovens.. I swept out the 2 walk in fridges and the freezer. I was very cold. I am still cold. I washed dishes, I washed my hands at least 50 times. I scraped 3 different pieces of gummy bears off the floor. I hate those little beasts of mulicolored Hell.

We had a fire drill while I was moving cafeteria tables from one side of the room to the other.

That task is really hard on my back so I was happy for the distraction. While we were outside, a lady came by and said that all of us kitchen staff women were "SO CUTE!" And she made us all stand next to each other and she took our picture 4 times, in 4 different poses. She showed me the pictures on her phone and I looked really bad in every one of them. My hair being up in a bun makes me look like I'm 100 years old. Joy. At least I am alive. I could be dead and look 100 instead of alive and looking 100. So, yeah.

It was because we were all dressed in Christmas clothes.

That's why we were adorable. I had reindeer barrettes in my hair. One of my co-workers calls them "brats." She also has tendonitis in her elbow and she calls it tinnitus. (FYI, that is a ringing in the ears, not a pain in one's elbow.) She asked me, "Are those brats?" I didn't know what the hell she was talking about.

I am in a really emotional mood. It's a full moon week.

After work I sat in my car and cried. In my car is where I do most of my crying. If there was a device that existed to show under a blacklight exactly how many tears have fallen into that car... it would be thousands. Many many many thousands of them.

I am making these words here very big for no reason.

See how I did that? You are now becoming aware of the fact that you are reading my blog. You are reading this sentence. And this one. I am reading them, too. I am thinking them as I write them, and not thinking them and then writing them. There is a difference in those two actions that can make a blog go into spontaneous land or premeditated land.

I'm lost in the land of the spontaneous Christmas socks. It is pretty here, but please help me find my left shoe. I think it hates me.
