What I do know is we are definitely going to lose some great content creators with the 50-50 system in place. Content creation is one of the unique features of the Steem blockchain, but people tend to forget that. The masses aren't investors nor hodlers, and this change would just make it 100 times harder for new users to get started and stay around.
There are people who spend money, and there are people who spend time on the blockchain. Investors most likely won't spend their precious time blogging or sharing content, so we will just end up with a feed full of posts comprised of stolen memes and youtube links that make 50$ each. I don't think this is the kind of marketing we need right now.
It all depends on what it is that we actually want to achieve at the end of the day.

In other words, whenever the price of Steem declines, we witness a decrease in activity in terms of content creation. Ever wondered why? It's because content creators lose motivation to produce material. It seems to me that we are trying to find a way to get more people to abandon the platform.

Your comment totally makes sense to me. I do not have an opinion “set in stone” yet about this hard fork.
The only thing I know for sure is my behaviour and my opinion.
But indeed I can not only understand but see the action and reaction of price/rewards on content quality/quantity!
