    I use tinypic.com i upload my photos there and it will give several codes I use the very last code which is direct link for layout then you copy and paste the link to your steemit I hope this helps :)

      Also, since you are new to steemit make a post about yourself. Things you like, hobbies and what you may post about in the future. Add a picture with the Steemit name and logo with date to verify yourself then tag it under introduceyourself I hope this helps you get started.
