The past 5 to 10 years saw bring rise to the so-called shared economy. Platforms like Uber, AirBNB, BlaBlaCar filled a demand for more personal services. Rather than pay huge corporations for our holiday services, it was average joe or the neighbour next door who would provide us a place to sleep or a ride to airport. But there was always the platform that receives the commission from its services. And moreover, the platform would be able to do with our data whatever it wants.
Bringing the sharing economy to the next level on the blockchain, now there is HireGo; a trustless decentralized rental platform for cars. How cool is this! Now, through smart contracts we can exclude the middlemen when lending out our cars and grant access to whomever we want to, rather than let the third party use our data as they please.
As all the reviews and comments will be stored on the blockchain, the user information becomes verifiable and undisputable, creating a trustworthy record of the members on the platform. Furthermore, as only the users will be owning the private keys to the account, both our funds and our own data will be exclusively ours; no more sharing with third parties! With one currency on the platform, the HGO token, currency exchange confusion will be eliminated so we know what we are paying for the services.
I’m so excited by this concept. It appears blockchain has a solution for every service in our society, and HireGo offers one of those services for which there is always demand. I can’t way to start registering my own car to be a part of the decentralized shared economy!
