This is a story about how people live in the Donbas.

Donbass is the east of Ukraine with huge deposits of coal.
For the most part, there are no large cities in the Donbass with a population of more than a million people, where at least there is at least some work, these are small towns or villages with a population of 2 to 50 thousand people. And people are forced to survive in conditions of lack of funding, work, and more recently, wars.
And just about such people I'll tell you today.
For the most part, people have specialties related to coalpits, since the Donbass are large deposits of coal.

And many get a specialty related to the profession of miners.The Soviet Union has long collapsed and many coal enterprises began to close.People remained without work, but coal is still underground.And in connection with this, illegal (covered by power structures) coalpits began to appear.
In the summer, this work is not very popular and many people leave for work in neighboring Russia or go to work for construction or loaders.But with the onset of cold weather, many people remain without work and are forced to go to work on illegal coal mines ("kopank", from digging)
These mines can be found anywhere, in the forest, in the field, in the territory of some former factory, which has not worked for a long time.


The work is very hard and low-paid. For a ton of coal mined, pay from 300 (6 $) to 600 (11 $) rubles per brigade. The team can consist of 3 or 4 people. In exchange you can earn, in addition to diseases associated with this profession, up to 500-600 rubles ($ 8-10). Earnings per week is 2500-3000 rubles (40 $ -50 $).But people have almost no choice and they have to go to such a job.

To say that the work is dangerous, do not say anything. You are responsible for your safety. There are many cases when miners did not return home from work. And almost no one is responsible. It is very good if those who command such a mine get and send the body to relatives and will not leave it in the mine or be thrown out near the road,
as if a person was killed in an accident.
Very often on television and in groups on the Internet one can see discussions about some cases of this dangerous affair.
From such activities in the forest it became dangerous to walk, because quite a few abandoned excavations and they are sprinkled with foliage branches, snow. And you can fall to the Depth to 100 meters. There were even cases.

From such activities, people are destroyed at home.


And no one is responsible for this, because this is the only opportunity for many to feed their families.
