Un Testigo Steem es una persona que opera un servidor que produce bloques y publica un feed de precios de STEEM/USD a la red. Los ordenadores de los testigos en la red Steem tienen un trabajo que consiste en hacer "bloques" y añadirlos a la cadena de bloques y también almacenar los datos completos de la cadena de bloques. A Steem Witness is a person who operates a witness server (which produces blocks), and publishes a price feed of STEEM/USD to the network. Witnesses' computers in the Steem network have a job that is to make 'blocks' and add them to the blockchain and also to store the complete blockchain data. These blocks contain information about posts, comments, votes and currency transfers.
Actualmente el proyecto el arca apoya a un total de 24 testigos dentro del marco de la blockchain de steem, dichos testigos han demostrado servir no solamente como un pilar para el funcionamiento de nuestra economía sino además siendo creadores de diversidad de aplicaciones, programas y elementos encargados de facilitar el trabajo que día a día realizamos para recibir recompensas en este ecosistema, así como darle diverso apoyo a variedad de comunidades para su funcionamiento y apoyo a los más pequeños (minnows), en la plataforma. De esta forma nosotros como usuarios tenemos el deber de elegir a aquellos testigos que sabemos están realizando un excelente trabajo para el crecimiento de la blockchain.
