Mount Kilimanjaro ,with its tripartite volcanic cones,"Kibo","Mawenzi" and "Shiro" ia a dormant entity in Tanzania .It is the higest peak in mountain in Africa,about 4,900,metres,(16,00 ft) from its base to 5,895 metres,(19,341 ft) above the sea level.The first set of people known to have reached the summit of the mountain were Hans Meyer,Yohana Kinyala Lauwo and Ludwig Purtschellern in 1889.It is a cardinal climbing destination and part of Kilimanjaro National Park.

The mountain is drained by string pockets of rivers and streams ,especially on the wetter and more heavily erupted southern side and especially above 1,200 metres(3,900 ft)
Both rivers Lumi and Pangani drains Kilimanjaro on the eastern and southern part respectively

The name Kilimanjaro has been a subject of controversies .Europeans explorers adopted the name since 1860 and reported that "Kilimanjaro"was mountain Kiswahili name.It was also claimed that Swahilis along the coast called the mountain "Kilimanjaro"meant either "mountain" of greatness or "mountain of caravan"."Kilima" meant" mountain".. and "Jaro" possibly meant"caravan.
