Pomegranate and heraldry

in history •  7 years ago

Garnet is not only a useful and delicious fruit - a symbol of a cracked pomegranate was used in the heraldry of the Spanish coat of arms. The cracked fruit of the pomegranate meant in the State of Andalusia.

And the Spaniards received a pomegranate (Granada) after a long war of conquest, lasting several centuries beyond the Pyrenees. When the last Muslim state fell - the Granada Emirate, the symbol of the grenade passed to the Spaniards.

The Granada Emirate existed in the Pyrenees from 1228 to 1492.гранат.jpg
