Auschwitz - Birkenau. Death factory. Part 1

in history •  7 years ago

Hello all
Warning ! This article contains drastic pictures.

Today I decided to talk about the darkest part of modern history.
Adolf Hitler, September 1, 1939, begins the Second World War. He attacks Poland, incorporating its cities into Germany.
One of the Polish cities - Oświęcim, becomes Auschwitz, under the German government.
The city has very good rail links and ideal locations to create an extermination camp. Hidden and secret.

Auschwitz Birkenau
German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp

It is important to remember who founded and who managed the camp.
In recent times in the newspapers and television in Europe, the term "Polish death camp" apear.
That's not true. The camp was located in occupied Poland, under the German management.
The camp was a tool of Nazi Germany to accomplish its main purpose. "The final solution" the extermination of Jews and the destruction of other nations, and the survivors to make servants.

**Birkenau Camp** The camp complex in Auschwitz consisted of 3 parts. Auschwitz - Birkenau - Monowitz. In this section, we will look at the Birkenau camp. Camp intended for the mass extermination of thousands of people. The total number of victims of the death factory is about 1,500,000 people. Murdered in an inhuman way. Killed by gas, burned alive ... When the first trains transported the prisoners to the camp, most of them did not know what fate awaited them. Nobody expected such horror.

People were transported in animal wagons, crowded with only what they were able to fit in their suitcases.
Of course, the contents of the suitcases were no longer received, and most of them never left the camp.
Photos show the unloading of prisoners from the train. There was a selection. Workers went to the barracks and the old, sick, women and children went to death.

The pictures above show living barracks.
On the second photo, behind the barracks are seen chimneys. There are ruins of crematoria that the Nazis destroyed before the liberation of the camp to eradicate the evidence of genocide.
The last 2 pictures show the interior of the barracks. One of the photographs is archival, showing the conditions of the prisoners.

Images of the crematorium and the gas chamber, blown up by the Germans, when it was known that the Red Army was coming.
The last photo shows the mass grave of one of the Nazi death camps. The Nazis did not dirty their hands, other prisoners were forced to hide in this way the people.

Commemorative plaque, victims of genocide. In the row there are many such monuments in many languages.

"Memories of men, women and children, victims of Nazi genocide.
There are Their ashes here.
Let them rest in peace"

It is hard to imagine that this green meadow behind a plaque is one of the mass graves.
