Over the years, men has been wondering; ' what could have happened to Zeus?'
In real life, Zeus and his cognate forms, Jupiter, Wodin, etc was/were the religious archetype/persona of the divine Father. They were suposed to be cosmic all-ruling figures, but were all very specific to their cultures of origin. They slowly became emotionally unsatisfying to the general public during the Roman era- when many cultures came into close contact with eachother by means of all being enslaved by the Romans- and it became clear that the Father Gods were reduntant to each other.
Part of Christianity’s success may lie in the fact that it both continued the image of the Father God, and stripped him of telltale marks of specific cultures- making him a more plausible Cosmic Ruler.
What happened to Zeus? People stopped caring about him- and he became a myth. Myths are the literary remains of gods like ghosts are supposed to be the energetic remains of people.
In universe- within Greek Mythology- Zeus’ fate is never resolved. The entire set of stories is a held breath, waiting for the jump scare arrival of the Son who will Destroy the Father- but the Son never arrives.
Possibly because, in real life, when sons replace their fathers, they generally have become fathers themselves.
