Costa Rica, little but beautiful.

Today i want to share a little bit of history from Costa Rica!
Since we are small most of the people don´t know where we are located, we are a small country in Central America in between of Panama and Nicaragua.

Before the colonization the people that lived in this land were part of a cultural complex called ¨Intermediate Area¨ between Mesoamerican and Andean regions.

There are many leftovers from those civilizations but the most notorious examples are the store spheres that are scattered over the country

When the Spaniars came a big deal of the population die because of the diseases that were unknown to the natives such as measles and smallpox.

The distance that Costa Rica had from Guatemala, which was one of the capitals at that time left the land in a bad shape, the lack of indigenous population available for forced labor meant that most of the settlers had to work their own land, even the governor at some point had to take care of his own crops to survive, Costa Rica was by and large unappreciated and overlooked by the Spanish Crown due to this fact.

Since most of the inhabitants of the land were left to develop themselves by the Crown made the land autonomous and developed an individualistic agrarian society.

In 1821 when Napoleon occupied Spain the word spread and Costa Rica with other American countries got the independence from Spain.

In 1948 there was a dispute because of the presidential elections causing the Costa Rican civil war, over 2.000 people died that day and the election of the new president led to the abolition of the army, that´s right, we have over 69 years without an army.
(The mother will be happy knowing that the son that she gives birth will never be a soldier)

Now we are a small but peaceful country with a lot of tourism because of the beauty of our lands.
