Original Indonesian mythological creature that is also a symbol of the Indonesian state. Is a figure in Hindu mythology, Buddhism and Ancient Egypt. In Hindu-Buddhism he is the vehicle of Lord Vishnu, one of the Trimurti, or the manifestation of God in Hinduism. Described gold-bodied, white face, and red-winged. Its beak and wings resemble a hawk, but its body is like a human. The size is so large, it can block the sun. He is also regarded as the king of birds.

In Japan, the garuda is known as Karura, this creature of human and eagle-headed. It is said that this creature was brought to Japan to spread Buddhism. Karura is a Japanese pronunciation of Garuda sansekerta.
