1790 - First Session of the US Supreme Court - It took place in the Royal Exchange Building in New York City

1861 - Texas secedes in the American Civil War - The Texas Ordinance of Secession was the document that officially separated Texas from the United States in 1861. It was adopted by the Secession Convention on February 1 of that year, by a vote of 166 to 8

1884 - The Oxford English Dictionary was first published - The Oxford English Dictionary (OED) is widely regarded as the accepted authority on the English language. It is an unsurpassed guide to the meaning, history, and pronunciation of 600,000 words— past and present—from across the English-speaking world

1951 - UN condemns PRC for aggression - By a vote of 44 to 7, the United Nations General Assembly passes an answer condemning the communist government of the People’s Republic of China for acts of aggression in Korea

2004 - Ford GT makes TV debut in Superbowl ad - The Ford GT is an American mid-engine two-seater sports car manufactured and marketed by Ford for model year 2005 in conjunction with the company's 2003 centenary — and again in redesigned form for model year 2017
