EMBROIDERY FROM THE CAVES AT DUNHUANG [COLLECTED]

Though this dates to between the third and fifth centuries AD, the colours are still bright and clear. The archeologist and collector Aurel Stein found a lot of fabric at Dunhuang, ranging from huge lengths evidently designed to hang as banners from the tops of cliffs to much smaller pieces.
