Between so many fascinating and at the same time terrifying legends today I bring you a legend that will captivate your attention, long ago, when the supernatural was closer to humanity, in today's City of Quito, there lived an Indian named Cantuña, he committed the folly of signing a solemn commitment to build a church. The deadline was about to end and work was in the middle. With human effort, it was impossible to end so soon, he, too tired, consumed by fever and fear of being humiliated, thought: "There are only 18 hours to finish the term". The dreams of happiness fell apart before the terrible reality. He will soon be locked up in jail for breach of contract. The pride of the Indian devoured him.

It was almost dark now, and the poor Indian, anxious, strode down the room; he thought he could distinguish a mysterious voice that said, He thought he could distinguish a mysterious voice that told him that the Lord has attended to his request and suddenly from the stones came a mysterious character, wrapped in a red robe.

His face was dark, sweaty; With sharp teeth in the huge mouth. He wore twisted, red boots.

The devil told him:

"I know your pain, Tomorrow will be unhappy and without honor. But I can comfort you in your affliction. Before dawn begins, the church will be finished; You, on the other hand, will sign this contract today. I am Luzbel, and I want ... your soul! Do you accept?"

The Indian did not think twice and accepted. But clarifying his conditions for the contract, Cantuña, said:

"But if at dawn, before the sound of the last bell of the Hail Mary is missed, the temple is not finished; If one stone is missing, one, hear it well, the contract will be void."

Fact. Sign the document, replied the devil. The next day, at dawn, Cantuña hurried to San Francisco.

The work was almost finished; Millions of red devils crossed, like tongues of fire, through space, occupied in the construction of the church, that majestic lifted up........ And the poor soul of the Indian was already lost. A prayer, the last one full of faith and penance, came out of her lips. Luzbel, he laughed. At dawn a pale violet began to cover the sky; The sun stretched behind Mount Ichimbia. Slow, tumultuous and consoling the four bells announcing the dawn sounded.

"Victory!" Growled Luzbel.
"Victory!" Exclaimed the Indian. A stone is missing!

In effect: one block, one block only, was still missing. The soul of "Catuña" had been saved ... (because in his wisdom he hid that block inside his poncho).

Satan, cursing, sank into the underworld, with his devils. The soul of the Indian was free; And as a reminder, the atrium rose solemnly, before the eyes of the Quito believers. AND UNTIL TODAY LACK THE STONE IN THE CHURCH, Some say that if the block is placed..... The church will collapse.
