Vasili Arkhipov: Humanity will forever remember you

During the Cuban Missile Crises,a Soviet navy officer casted a single vote that stopped a collateral disaster which is nuclear war,Armageddon as some faithfuls believe. image


In 2002 Thomas Blanton, who was then director of the US National Security Archive, said

"Vasili Arkhipov saved the world".

After Arkhipov refused to authorize the captain's use of nuclear torpedoes against the United States Navy, a decision which requires the vote of all three senior officers aboard. image



So sad nobody remembers or knows him.
