Old Damascus

If we just google ”what is the oldest capital in the world” the answer will be this wonderful city in Syria called Damascus.
Damascus is the city of jasmines ,this name has been associated with Damascus for as long as I can remember. It is city where beauty and originality are perfectly combined ,the city where you can find mosques built next to churches.
It is city where all the people live together as family,act like family ,and help each other like a family .
There are many places which attracted Tourists previously.
The most popular places are :

1 – Citadel of Damascus:
The location for the citadel was first fortified in 1076 by the Turkman warlord Atsiz bin Uvak, although there is no proof if that a citadel was built on this place in the Hellenistic and Roman periods.

2 – Damascus’s old gates :
The old Damascus was surrounded by fence and there was seven gates where people can go out and in the city through them. This is the picture for old Damascus with the name of the gates.

I’ll talk about one of them “The Gate of the Sun” (Bab Sharqi), it is the only original Roman gate (which built to ca. 200 AD) still standing until now.
