Absurd reasons of war in history - 1 (War of the Bucket)

The Battle of Oak bucket is the battle between Bologna city states and Modena in 1325. The war took place in the Emilia region in the north of Italy. Moden soldires took the bucket from the city and provoked the Bologna people. Bologna people started the war to save their honor. Modena won the Battle of Zappolino, the only war in the continent, and the bucket stayed in Modena until today.

From the end of the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, the north of Italy was divided into two because of the conflict between the Holy Roman Emperor ("Ghibellines") and the Pope ("Guelfs"). Modena was Ghibellin; Bologna was Guelph. Due to these differences, there was already a conflict between the two cities.

By the Battle of Legnano in 1176, the territory of Italy was divided politically. From this war, these two cities had rivaled each other. They took the land of each other. They set fire to the fields of each other. Finally, this bucket started an actual war.

As a result, many people died, many loved ones stayed apart forever, and many children could not see their father.
