Michael Schumacher makes Formula One debut

This day in History marks a special day in Sports History when the 7 times World Champion Michael Schumacher made his debut in the F1 racing scene in Belgium during the Grand Prix of Spa. This was the beginning of a legendary career. Michael had to retire the race but raised attention amongst top teams like Benneton where he became World Champion later. His first race was for the Jordan team.

Michael was starting his racing career in various Kart series, followed by Formula Three where he was able to win the German Formula Three championship in 1990. Then he made the move to the BIG Guns in Formula 1. Statistically he is the best driver ever in Formula One. He won seven Formula One World Championships (the only one!) and still holds the records for the most Grand Prix wins (91), the most pole positions (68), the most fastest laps (77) and the most races won in a single season (13). Some of his records are now in danger with Lewis Hamilton picking up in pole positions.

We all hope he will recover from his tragic ski accident he had some years ago (back in 2013) and still receives medical treatment and rehabilitation at home.
