Lenin was shot on August 30, 1918

Vladimir Lenin was shot by Fanya Kaplan that day but he survived! The shooter was from his own political team - the Social Revolutionary party. Vladimir Ilich Ulyanov was born in 1870 and was a major driver of socialist / communism movement - he was drawn to the revolutionary cause after his brother was executed in 1887. After he studied law and worked as lawyer in Petrograd he linked to several people around the revolutionary Marxist circles and got active - more on his life and achievements in a different post. Lenin died in 1924 and his body was embalmed and placed in a mausoleum near the Moscow Kremlin.

Strong people do not die from a single shot. It's a very interesting story, I did not know that

Thanks for commenting, was also new to me til yesterday, one always learns

Yes, that's very true

What was his motivation for the shooting?

Did he have some kind of epiphany, realized marxist socialism was evil and soul destroying, and tried to end it before it grew? lol

It was a "her" - Fanya Caplan - she was a member of the Socialist Revolutionaries (SRs) and viewed Lenin as a ‘traitor to the revolution’, when his Bolsheviks banned her party.

ah, ok , thanks.
Although I would argue however that there are no 'hers' in socialism - Its sexual repression! lol

An interesting historical tidbit.
