Wisata kapal Apung pembangkitan listrik seberat 2.500 ton di Banda Aceh

Dahsyatnya tsunami Aceh banyak meninggalkan cerita yang salah satunya adalah monumen pembangkit listrik kapal apung seberat 2.500 ton terdampar di desa Punge kecamatan Meuraxa kota Banda Aceh provinsi aceh
Masuk ke komplek Kapal Apung, di sisi kiri sebuah tugu pengingat tsunami berdiri. Di sana bertulis nama-nama korban tsunami dari desa tempat kapal apung itu bertengger. Kapal terdampar di sana saat tsunami menggada Aceh, 26 Desember 2004 silam.
Kapal sebagai bukti nyata ombak raya. Saat tsunami datang, kapal yang difungsikan sebagai pembangkit listrik di lepas pantai, digiring gelombang laut ke tengah pemukiman warga. Alhasil, berlabuhlah kapal berbobot mati 2.500 ton dengan panjang 63 meter ke darat. Bergeser sekitar 5 kilometer dari tempat seharusnya kapal itu berada.
Kini, kapal itu telah berubah fungsi. Oleh Pemerintah Kota Banda Aceh, kapal dimasukkan sebagai salah satu objek wisata tsunami di ibukota provinsi. Para pengunjung pun ramai datang, melihat dekat sisa tsunami dan membayangkan besarnya bencana yang datang enam tahun lima bulan lalu. Pengelolaan dilakukan oleh kementrian ESDM dan Pemerintah Kota Banda Aceh.
Berada di atas kapal, sebuah pemandangan tersaji. Pengunjung akan tahu, berapa jauh kapal itu terseret arus tsunami, karena dari geladak setinggi 20 meter lebih akan terlihat laut dan dermaga Ulee Lheu. Sebagian kota juga terpampang dari atas sana.
Mesin pembangkit listrik tak ada lagi di dalam kapal, telah dipindahkan sejak akhir 2010 silam. Saat malam, lampu-lampu dihidupkan dengan memakai arus listrik, sama seperti fasilitas penerangan ke rumah-rumah warga.
Lokasi kapal apung pernah ditutup beberapa bulan untuk pemugaran dan dipagari sekelilingnya. Setelah dipugar, lokasi penanda kedahsyatan tsunami itu dibuka kembali pada 4 April 2012. Lokasinya semakin indah dan teratur, pengunjung pun semakin ramai.
Hampir semua wisatawan yang singgah di sana tak meninggalkan kesempatan untuk berpose berlatar kapal apung. Lokasi kapal apung selalu ramai akhir tahun, bersamaan dengan peringatan tsunami. Berbagai event mengenang bencana digelar di sana, dari pameran foto sampai doa bersama. Sekolah-sekolah juga kerap menjadikannya sebagai tempat belajar para siswa, berwisata sambil mendidik.
