Introduction.
Tutankhamum was a pharaoh,or ruler, of ancient Egypt. He died in 1353 b.c. He has become famous because, more than 3000 years after his death, his tomb was discovered containing gold, jewels and many other beautiful objects.
Tutankhamum became pharaoh when he was 11 years old. He married an Egyptian princess. He died when he was about 18.
In 1922 archaeologists discovered his tomb in Egypt in the valley of the kings. The pharaoh body was mummified (preserved and wrapped in bandages) inside a coffin made of solid gold.
