Hello dear friends, hope you are fine. Today I want to tell about a marvelous archaeological city in Algeria. I am very interested about history and old civilastions, so I want write about Timgad to show the history of Roman empire in Algeria.

Timgad the Roman city in Algeria, its  one of the most beautiful sites that still preserve its ruins without altering or reconstructing and decorating the monuments that have changed due to the climatic changes that has had over the years. It is one of the seven UNESCO World Heritage sites listed in Algeria.

Timgad, or Timokadi as it was known, it is an ancient Roman archaeological city located in the Auras region of eastern Algeria, exactly in Batna province.  It was built in 100 AD during  the reign of Emperor Trajan,  who ordered to constructe this city for strategic purposes and to be a defensive fortress. By chance it turned to a urban city full of population and contains all the requirements and facilities to live at that time.

Timgad is beautifully decorated with a semi-square shape. It was constructed as a chessboard. It contains  two roads from north to south and another one from the west to the east. At the intersection of these roads there are houses which built on small squares of 20 meters long. Romans surrounded the city with a large wall to protect it when population raisen.

Timgad archaeological city is unique, because it is one of the most historical cities around the world that still maintains its original design and without any change. The ruins of Timgad now attract many visitors from all over the world who come specially to watch and enjoy the ancient Roman ruins.

the facilities that are still clear within the archaeological city known are the furum, which means the public arena and surrounded by the Municipal Council, the Temple of the Emperor, and the Palace of Justice, along with the public market and shops.

The form of the theater is still clear, where the Timgad inhabitants used to celebrate and do all  various events and demonstrations that were known at the time.

Although several centuries passed, Timgad is still has many original Roman ruins, and everyone who visited this magnificent city was impressed by the beauty of its ancient monuments and facilities dating back to 100 AD.
