But fog closed the airport there and the alternatives.
The pilot headed for a farm strip but the
A/C ran out of fuel and was
Forced to land in a turnip patch 1/2 a mile
Short of the runway 26 Feb 1954
Written off remains returned to Christchurch
Fuselage later converted to a caravan

What an odd little plane. Not seen that one before

I am sure the official dates are wrong, I am sure it flew through Woodbourne in 56 or 57, and yes, it is the weirdest little aeroplane to look at.
