My historian friend was doing a book signing in South Dakota and I went along. My great grandparents had homesteaded in Avon, SD and while we were out there we went to check out the town. I learned a lot from my friend about Chief Standing Bear while we were on that trip, and drove down to the Missouri River specifically to be able to drive across this bridge.
