History of Adams Bridge or Ramsetu

in history •  7 years ago

People know Adams Bridge as Ramsetu. It is a symbol of faith for Hindu. You will get the explanation of Ram Setu in the Ramayana, a religious book. It is directly related to Ram, who was born in the house of Dasharath, king of Ayodhya. Dashrath had 4 wives; one of them was named Kekai. Kekai was the stepmother of Ram. At the behest of Kekai, Dasharath sent Ram to live in forest for 14 years. It is written in the Ramayana that Ramsetu was constructed to save Sita from the clutches of Ravana. Ravana was a very powerful and intelligent demon. He was a very big devotee of Shiva. He obtained many powers from devotion. But bad deed ended his life.

When Ravana had kidnapped Sita, Ram, husband of Sita, was very sad and crying. He actually did not know who had kidnapped his wife Sita. He was wandering around in the jungle in search of Sita. When they came to know that Ravana had kidnapped Sita and kept her in Lanka, he moved towards Lanka to save Sita by defeating or killing Ravana. But Ram was in India and Sita was kept in Lanka. The problem was that there was a sea between India and Lanka and there was no bridge to cross it. It was a huge problem for Ram that how to cross the sea and save Sita from the clutches of Ravana.

Fortunately, Ram made his army with Hanuman, Sugriva, Jatayu, Nal and Nil and many other monkeys. The army of Ram is known as “Banar Sena”. History says that Nal and Nil had built Ram Setu or Adams Bridge. But the technology which they used to build the bridge has not been mentioned in Ramayana. But it is said that they wrote the name of Ram in every stone and threw in the sea, and those stones started to float. In this way, adams bridge was made. But science can’t believe this technology. There may be some hidden things that are not mentioned in Ramayana. The bridge was being used till 1400s, but due to a cyclone this bridge got destroyed and drowned in the sea, but not completely. You can still visit it. It has not completely disappeared.

The length of this bridge is about 50 kilometers. It separates the Gulf of Mannar from the Palk Strait. This bridge starts from Pamban Island of India and ends in Mannar Island in Lanka. The construction of Adams Bridge is still a mystery to everyone, since nobody knows what technology they used to make it. You must visit it once.
