The Historic Astoria Column in Astoria, Oregon - My Photos - Great Views Of The Columbia River And Surrounding Area

The Column is on Coxcomb Hill in Astoria, OR. It is a great place to visit if you are in the area. The Column is covered with murals depicting the history of the area.

There are circular stairs inside the column and you can go all the way to the top. I am somewhat afraid of heights so was glad when I came back down.

Just think of the time and effort it took to cover the Column with all these images, artwork, etc.

In the distance you can see the bridges which help to connect the area. Astoria is at the mouth of the Columbia River---where it soon empties into the Pacific Ocean.

One of the two bridge spans connects Oregon to Washington State. The Columbia River is the dividing line between the two States.
