All tribes have their histories of how they came to be where they are today. And here is a little history about the Tiv people of Benue state. The Tiv people came from Congo and used the green snake to cross and settle where today they call Tiv nation in North Central Nigeria.Indeed, Tiv are Gods chosen among the black race. I mean how can a human stand on the back of a snake to cross a river?!! God used the green snake to save the Tiv people. Religiously,the Tiv don't worship the snake but respects it in reciprocal to a kind gesture that God designed.
