Sad historical movie

Last evening I watched this new Bollywood movie Chaava, which got released in theatres on Friday. It's a historic movie based on the life of the son of a very brave warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji. When I watched the move I was in doubts as to who was the braver one father or the son, and why did the son not get much of recognition. The father's story is found all along in history books, whereas there is barely any mention of the son, but the way he fought against the Mughals and did not give up till the end puts one through shivers. When he lost the war against the Mughals he was taken as a captive and put in prison for 40 days and brutally tortured. Brutally is also an understatement. In the movie they have not shown till that extent of brutality, but when I read through his story it seems like many of his body parts were chopped gradually and yet he never succumbed to any fear in front of the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb. It was torture beyond one's imagination and it is not a fiction story, it is a real story.

When we look back in time, there were more wars then now and it was all power play, no wonder where it's just all getting passed on from one generation to another since centuries. I feel that the wars of past were more brutal and some times to think of it, all they did was wars, as if it was a hobby. World has changed so much but these wars have not ended, they just keep going on and on.

Brutality in the old times was much worse. When I visited London and Egypt and looked at some of the places there like the dungeons and read their stories, they are horrifying. In Egypt there was one underground cave which was a prison cell of the olden times. There were small blocks in it which were barely 2 feet height and 1 feet wide with around 1 feet depth. It is said that people were put in that as punishment, and if the punishment were more severe they were buried live in it. Imagine that kind of atrocity towards a human life. They were all the commands of one king or queen based on their characters, some were benevolent and some were notorious. Thank god all those monarchy systems have got abolished. Also the increase of human rights activism has made things easy and all those atrocities are kind of controlled, though we do get to hear of it some times.

Last night after the movie, my mind was going into so many directions. I was thinking that we all souls of this life may have been there and been victim of all of that and it must have been so painful for our souls also to get through such lives.
