History truth about the 20naira note.
The picture above is Ladi Kwal she was ,born in a village named Kwali in Gwari region in Northern Nigeria (1925-1984).
Despite her village being known for pottery as a common occupation among the women in that region her work was so much skilled she became known in Europe, Britain ,America and some other countries in the world.
In the late 1950s and early 1960s her work were being displayed in London at the Berkeley Galleries and she became Nigerians best first known potter.

This made her to be awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in 1962.
she was awarded an honorary doctoral degree from
Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria 1977.
The Nigerian Government (from the Cabinet Office of
the Federal Republic of Nigeria ) invested on her with the insignia
of the Nigerian National Order of Merit Award (NNOM) in 1980.
(That is the highest national honour for academic achievement)
She also received the national honour of the Officer of the
Order of the Niger (OON) in 1981.
Her picture appears at the back of the Nigerian 20 Naira bill.
Till date a major street in Abuja is called Ladi Kwali Road.
The Sheraton Hotel houses the Ladi Kwali Convention Center,
one of the largest conference facilities in Abuja with 10 meeting
rooms and four ballrooms till date.
PS .She recieved all this achievements and awards even without having a formal Education.
