we should think twice next time when we say "dark ages" becuase it wasnt dark all around the world
it wasnt a dark hole in histry and wasnt a thousands wasted years it was the opposite
we assume that the death and disease was everywhere and it ended without any new discovery
all that is true if there was only the european side on the earth
but !! was it ? no of course it was not the only side
did we forget the eastern side ?
what was happening at the same time of these years there ?
was it dark too ?
let's get back in time and see what was happening there
there was a civilization from spain to china
you are probably wondering what civilization ?
it's the muslim civilization my friends
scholars and scientists of various faiths some of the most important discoveries known to man who mad at this time
discoveries that drew on knowledage of the acvients but have more connections withe the modern world
than you could possibly ever imagine
let me introduce to you some of the best brains at that time
Ibn al-Haytham
he is one one of the greatest scientist whose ideas led to the invention of the camera
he laid the foundation for modern cameras by explaining how is the human eyes work on his book "Theory of vision"
he found a way of projecting an image onto another surface through a small hole in a dark room later called "camera obscura" or "dark room"
"camera obscura"
think of all the things that evolved from this discovery cameras cinema, all share the same principle
Ibn al-Haytham made significant contributions to the principles of optics, astronomy,
mathematics and visual perception. He is considered to be the father of optics.
He was the first to explain that vision occurs when light bounces on an object and then is directed to one's eyes.
you can know more about him "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibn_al-Haytham"
Abbas ibn Firnas
He dared to dream about flying a thousand year before the "wright brothers"
Among other very curious experiments which he made, one is his trying to fly.
He covered himself with feathers for the purpose, attached a couple of wings to his body, and,
getting on an eminence, flung himself down into the air, when according to the testimony of several trustworthy
writers who witnessed the performance, he flew a considerable distance, as if he had been a bird, but,
in alighting again on the place whence he had started, his back was very much hurt,
for not knowing that birds when they alight come down upon their tails,
he forgot to provide himself with one
next time you take your jet-seating its seems to be fair to remember "Abbas ibn Firnas"

abu qasim al zahrawi
Abu al-Qasim Khalaf ibn al-Abbas Al-Zahrawi,
also known in the West as Albucasis, was an Andalusian physician.
He is considered as the greatest surgeon in the Islamic medical tradition.
His comprehensive medical texts, combining Middle Eastern and Greco-Roman classical teachings,
shaped European surgical procedures up until the Renaissance.
His greatest contribution to history is Kitab al-Tasrif, a thirty-volume collection of medical practice,
of which large portions were translated into Latin and in other European languages.
many of his Surgical tools are still in use in this time and one of his invention was the catgut the gut of
animals a perfect for stitching internal wounds and
catgut
its still in use until these days
Ismail al-Jazari
he is engineer an ingenious inventor
he made some groundbreaking advances in engineering
i suppose more a most significant discovery converted rotary motion into linear motion
and he made "elephant clock" a dozens of components collected from different cultures around the world indian, greak, arabian, egyptian and chinese
elephant clock
I'm a big admirer of Ibn al-Haytham, he is such a brilliant mind and everybody should read more about Him.

Historically, much of the wealth of the world was in the East and South. It was only with the discovery of the Americas that the wealth inequality shifted in favor of the West. The pinnacle of Western civilization, Rome, financed their empire with the wealth of their Eastern provinces. It would be only natural, after having shorn off all their eastern possessions, that the West devolve into poverty and subsistent existence.

True. The Mongols destroyed hundreds of years' worth of knowledge, wealth, and civilization in their rampage. Persia was left desolate; in the sack of Baghdad alone, humanity lost more knowledge than has ever been written since. Then came the Portugese and Spanish pirates to rob the remnants of the ruins left behind the Mongol disaster.
