Being in Masons and a little "old" I have a few Brothers left from the Greatest Generation. I am so happy my oldest, @walky123 , is watching this series. In another decade of so, that generation will be scarcer than it is today. By the time he is my age, they will be gone. I actually know a real-life hero who landed on D-day, and they are the Greatest Generation. Maybe it is because war was not so dmaned pointless, maybe TV and air conditioning have made men weaker, maybe it is something in the water (BPA) but the older heroes are worthy of the veneration.

I do agree

It's rare nowadays. I'm so glad my son got to meet a few of mt mentors before they passed. There are still a few out there. I was thinking about ine Frank Sparr when I wrote this. 60+ years in Freemasonry and he landed in D-day.

Freemason huh? I was always interested in joining but could find no members to sponsor me.

I drive past mine every other day... The one closest to me currently is in Denton.

Nanticoke, Choptank, and Coates are all around the outside of Denton. I do not know the actual area very well but I am involved in a few statewide events a year so we all know each other. Technically I cannot "recommend" Freemasonry, but I can clearly say that despite a lack of tangible value, it has made my life richer, fuller, and more meaningful. I would advise asking several Masons a bunch of questions, as we do not recruit or even invite. If you do not find your way to us of your own free will and accord, by taking the initiative with purpose, you are not a Mason in your own heart. There are only a few actual requirements: No atheist can be a Mason, No man under the age of 18 can be made a Mason, and a man must have good character. This means that you must be honest about any criminal record, and it is almost implied that a Mason has no felony convictions.

I’ll check into it. Up and down a ladder at the moment.

Call Grand Lodge of Maryland in Cockeysville/Hunt Valley. They can put you in touch with your local lodge. What area are you in?
