The Great Pyramid: Will The New Discovery Validate Any of These Fun, Out-There Theories? (Part 1 of 3)

in history •  7 years ago

In November 2017, scientists from the ScanPyramids research team announced their discovery of a "void" or "secret room" in the Great Pyramid of Giza above the grand gallery using a new muon detection technology.

Just last week, the scientists, Mehdi Tayoubi and Dr. Peter Der Manuelian, did an AMA over at Reddit to drum up a little publicity and answer some questions.  But they were careful not to suggest any theories as to what their findings might reveal before further non-invasive investigation -- as one would expect but still to my disappointment.

WHAT DO WE ACTUALLY KNOW ABOUT THE GREAT PYRAMID OF GIZA?

For as long as I can remember, I've always been fascinated by pyramids and especially the Great Pyramid of Giza.  I've spent many hours researching both mainstream and alternative sources that aim to shed light on how it may have been built (since there are no specific records) and why it may have been built (is a 'royal tomb' an over-simplification?)

When the scientists above revealed their findings of the new hidden chamber, I couldn't help but wonder if perhaps those eventual new discoveries might, however unlikely, validate some or any of the more out-there theories related to this pyramid that have been swirling among the ether for some time.

THE POINT OF THIS SERIES

Using this post as an introduction, I will write a second and third article that focuses on the not-so-mainstream theories related to this specific pyramid.  I won't suggest that I believe in them or that you should either but instead my aim is to simply share something with you that has fascinated me for a while.

So, if you have any interest in the Great Pyramid of Giza and don't necessarily buy into what the Egyptologists tell us about it, there's a good chance you'll be interested in these articles to come.

Or perhaps, you have have an imagination like mine that loves to run wild on the 'what if' scenarios relative to ancient constructions like these and alternative uses for them.  If that's the case, you'll definitely be interested in what's to come.

Or, just maybe, you appreciate challenging theories that make you think and see the world from a different perspective (whether those theories hold up or not).  Once again, this could be the series for you.

Thus, my point is to filter-down the many non-mainstream, alternative theories on the Great Pyramid of Giza into a somewhat comprehensive collection.  That way, you don't have to sift through the overwhelming amount of content specific to this subject that is often just straight up garbage and a waste of your time.

So if that's your cup of tea, follow me and keep an eye out in your feed for the next two parts in this series.

Please, Mario Pincherle's theory about the Great Pyramid is very interesting. If you can, talk about it. Thanks

Thanks for the reply! Have you found a good video presentation of his theory in English?
