The History Of Vaccines

Summary

What provoked the need for vaccines during its inception back in the 1850s? When I think of Victorian times I see pretty etched pictures of women in long corseted dresses and men in top hats and coat tails. That is a romantics view of the 1850s. Most people that worked for wages lived hand to mouth. The industrial revolution needed workers for their factories. People were forced from their rural life that couldn’t afford to mechanize their small farm or worked for landlords that no longer needed them. There was not only a revolution regarding factory made goods, farming also went through its own industrial revolution. Those who couldn't afford to mechanize lost their land and their way of life. We are told this also will happen with the revolution regarding the artificial intelligence movement to replace humans in transportation, factories and many jobs we hold in the corporate world.

Dr Walter Hadwen

Factories were built and the poor of mostly rural agricultural England flocked to the newly built factories with little infrastructure to support its workers. We are about to see this happen again with the AI'a take over regarding transportation and other jobs that can be automated.

New factory jobs in the 1850s had no health, safety, or minimum-wage laws. The 1800s was a time when people worked 12 to 16 hours in menial work. Kids ran free on the street as both parents worked. There was no waste disposal infrastructure, cramped row houses, sewer water running through the street, garbage dumps steaming with people, hogs, dogs, and horses walking through the waste.

Poor working conditions, inadequate food and shelter, non existent knowledge of basic hygiene bred diseases and the working population sickened. The diseases spread to the upper class, which were forced to do something for the working poor because their own were dying from the diseases produced by the working poor that brought so much wealth to their bank accounts

Epidemics and Public Health

"...the cupidity [extreme greed] of landlords had tempted them to build up narrow alleys with small wooden tenements, which, costing but little, and being let to numerous families, yield immense profits. The alley is often not more than six feet wide, paved with round stones and with very insufficient means for draining off the water. It is not uncommon in such situations to find one or two apartments in each house entirely under ground. Can we wonder if in such a state of things we find moral as well as physical disease, vice as well as sickness? Can we expect men who live thus to be sober and orderly, or women to be cleanly and domestic? In such situations, during the summer months, diarrhoea and dysentery are rife, and among children fatal.– New York physician Benjamin McCready (1813–1892), "

October 2017 California declares state of emergency over deadly hepatitis A outbreak due to huge homeless population and poor sanitation.

Doctor McCready

”In a room opening from a squalid yard, where a number of listless women were lounging to and fro, trying to get warm in the ineffectual sunshine of the tardy May morning – in the “Itch Ward,” not to compromise the truth – a woman such as HOGARTH has often drawn, was hurriedly getting on her gown before a dusty fire. She was the nurse, or wardswoman, of that insalubrious department – herself a pauper – flabby, raw-boned, untidy…But, on being spoken about the patients whom she had in charge…sobbing most bitterly, wringing her hands…Oh, “the dropped child” was dead! Oh, the child that was found in the street, and she had brought up ever since, had died an hour ago, and see where the little creature lay, beneath this cloth! The dear, the pretty dear!”

Charles Dicken’s Writing About Poverty 1850

Poverty In The Victorian Age-

For the working poor in the 1850s throughout the Western World you would find a one roomed dwelling shared by parents of six or more children, and various other relatives. They all slept together on rags placed on the floor with no beds or bedding. People were dying by the thousands from diseases caused by deplorable living conditioned packed together in squalid conditions.

By 1885 people started protesting against mandatory vaccines which caused more deaths than promised immunity. People started going to prison and paying fines rather than take vaccines. Eventually great minds came together with a concerned informed population and created the Great Demonstration in Leicester, England. The Leicester method which used isolation of the sick in hospitals, improved hygiene, diet and living conditions stopped smallpox spread. By 1887 the world had spread and systems were installed to improve health and hygiene. Vaccination rates dropped by 10 percent.

Leicester Method

What does pure mean regarding vaccines? The Therapeutic Substance Act of 1943 stated that vaccines must not contain more than 20,000 various micro organisms per cubic centimeter. Even with this best standard it is certain all vaccines will be contaminated . Vaccines will contain more than what we are told. Vaccines will also have yeasts, fungi, bacillus subtilis, back, coli, Pseudomones pycyantes and other contaminates. British Medical Journal Nov. 4th 1950.

By the mid 1850s into the early 1900s vaccination was supported by the Western Modern Medical institutions. Despite protest by most of the population and many doctors and scientists. Fines, seizure of personal property and imprisonment were enforced by law.

Thank God for plumbers!
Them and all the infrastructure that they service,
has done more to improve people's health and save lives than perhaps any other endeavour.

Thanks for breaking this down so simply, @reddust !

Thank you @canadian-coconut, it's not easy to write simply. There is so much data! Thank goodness for creative minds that look at problems from many different angles. Now we have to save our selves and our planet from the toxic chemicals that are killing our bodies ecosystem and our planets ecosystem.

I provided a link to California's infrastructure problem with the huge population of homeless people that can no longer afford to buy a home or rent because of their state's job and housing market. Most poor people that make minimum wage are 3 paychecks away from homelessness.

The homeless are experiencing high rates of all sorts of diseases that attack our immune system when the human body is starved and under stress. Most of our poor and surprisingly people that can afford to eat nutritional dense food are experiencing nutritional deficits while suffering obesity. That is, people are starving and their bodies are stressed from too much fat. This is setting up our population for more outbreaks of old diseases. I will be writing more about this as I progress through the history of vaccines and the bad habit of the vaccine industry vaccinating sick and starving people.

Exactly. Nobody did so much to help women as the inventor of the washing machine

Very interesting. Thanks for putting together all the great historical and contextual information on vaccinations. I'm a thorough believer that you need to know the history of a topic to truly understand a topic. Otherwise, you miss out on very key context as to how we got to where we are today.

I'm trying to decide when vaccines switched from being a just a horrible mistake to an intentional tool of eugenics. Do you have any insight on this history? I think it would be really interesting to trace the roots of this as well.

You should also have a look at Rudolf Steiner's views on vaccines. He was a modern mystic and indicated that there would be black magick uses for vaccines. He said that at some point, people would even be vaccinated against spirituality. Interesting thought when one sees the eugenics and health destruction agendas built into vaccines. I assume you also know about nagalase in vaccines and how this is purposely being added to cripple and destroy the immune system. This is worth a post in and of itself.

I will look into Rudolf Steiner's data, writing is a form of magic as well, we are surrounded by spells, as in spelling so I will find Steiner's data interesting. I will provide the eugenics data in a way that will be difficult to argue since the eugenics movement documented everything they did and planned to do! History is important if we are going to learn from our mistakes! Thank you @newsandviews.

Relieved to see this information here on Steemit @reddust Look forward to the next article. People have been fed so much mis/disiniformation on this subject that they are simply not able to make informed choices. Thank you!

I think one of the reasons we see a huge rise in mental health issues is cognitive dissonance. People under all their conditioning know what is going on and it's driving them crazy. All I want is the right to make my own choice how I live my life. As I posted in one of my previous articles herd immunity is a joke because of how our immune system works. Vaccines do not provide life long immunity and many times no immunity....In fact depending on the vaccine, which use live viruses they spread the disease they are supposed to prevent.

For the vaccines themselves, some of the ingredients would actually lead to an inability of one to think. The fact there have been no real safety or effectiveness studies being done on these cocktails should raise concern but as long as it is someone in a white coat telling them the vaccines are safe they simply take them at their word. Sad indeed. Something else few realize is that "doctors" are only licensed to "practice" medicine and that in reality is all they do.

Always astonishing too how uninformed the doctors are. «Non-critical as a doctor». They don't know that the brain will accumulate aluminum. They don't know that it will accumulate mercury. And thaz both together is much more toxic than one alone. They don't even know Thiomersal.

We are under attack from so many directions. Media, nutrition, pollution, education, and I could go on and on....I could write a series on the history dumbing down populations for control and profit!

I do look forward to that series @reddust Since 1999 I've been researching more than full time and have come to the conclusion that 99.9% of all disease is simply caused by Toxic Overload. It weighs heavy on the body, the mind and yes, even the spirit.

I found symptoms of fibromyalgia lifted and my menopause symptoms disappeared when I went on a pure water filter system and started eating whole organic foods. I also cut out sugar and all processed foods. I do fasts as well....I'm 2 years away from 60 years old and I feel like my body is around 30 years old. I started getting sick with fibromyalgia when I turned 32 years old...I've been feeling sick for a long time...now I have to let go of my habits of being sick and install healthy habits. That's what I am doing now!

Sounds like you are on the right road and we've experienced much of the same. Learning this saved my life and now after many years found myself slipping back to the crap and stress but a good wake up call for me too. Am changing and making new habits now as well. Good to know you!

You have given a good write up about why the need for vaccinations happened. It makes sense, seeing how people were living, at this stage it really was all trials and possibly even with good intentions.
What I don't understand is the need to keep giving them even forcing them on people, (well actually I can it's all about the money, Pharmaceutical companies are ruling our world at the moment). It really does frustrate me how powerless some of us have become, how much faith some of us put in the medical system. It's so important to be informed and make informed decisions in life especially when it comes to our well being and our families.
thank you for educating me more especially about the Leicester Vaccination Deaths, and also about people protesting even going to prison rather than receiving vaccinations.
It would have been real nice to say that todays society learned from them.

I will be writing about exactly why vaccines were mandated back in the early days of vaccination programs. It has nothing to do with public health, rather the decision was based on greed and profits!

That sounds about right, look forward to reading more from you. Thanks @reddust.

Thankyou. It seems we NEED platforms like this so we can educate ourselves without being force fed the 'correct' version of history by the 'approved' agenda driven sources

Thank you @hohum, you caught my mindset, I am learning about modern medicines agenda, is it for profit or is it for health. From what I've seen health is not as profitable as disease. I hope to find out this isn't true.

Ha. Who makes money from healthy people?
Actually I have heard that in China they used to pay the doctor to come once a year. It was his job to keep you healthy. If you got sick it was his fault, so he was then obliged to housecall and restore your health...for Free!

I remember back in the 60s no one in my town got sick enough to see a doctor. We still had people occasionally get cancer though and that's been increasing along with a radical change in life style and chemicals in our environment and diet. My Dad flew planes for the Air Force back in the 50s and 60s and came down with cancer. Prostate and testicular cancers are now known to be caused by radar energy and my Dad died of testicular cancer back in the mid 60s....Most of the time my people died of a tree falling on them working the timber of the Pacific Northwest or some kind of farm accident.

I think, this is just my feeling that our healers are suffering from Munchausen by Proxy...

Reading Jenner's history and his experiments and also reading Modern Medicines experiments is like reading about a horror story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this post and can’t wait for the next one. I had no idea people were rejecting vaccines soon after they were invented. I thought that was a new trend in today’s day.

Thanks for the information. What is your view on the matter? What does the information as you've listed it above mean for the way we handle vaccinations on the present?

I will write my views regarding vaccinations after I finish writing about the history of vaccines.

People started going to prison and paying fines rather than take vaccines.

Didn’t realize that was a thing, wow. The combination of forced vaccines and poor living conditions sounds awful.

Enjoying this series. :)

Good information thank you for share. @reddust

You are welcome @tanmoykumer

Along with my faith, homeschooling my children, my life style, my political and social beliefs and so many other things, I have QUIT participating in debates about vaccines. No matter what facts I am armed with, it turns into something like, "you're putting everyone elses children at risk" and "you're selfish" and, my favorite, "you're stupid".

(Do people actually think about the things that they say? Do they ask themselves if their arguments complement or contradict each other? Or do they just repeat what they've heard without thinking about any of it, much less fact checking? My big question... If vaccines are totally safe and effective, and your children are vaccinated, how are they going to get polio and small pox from my kids?)

Thank you so much for so many very well written, plain English articles. I appreciate being informed. Next time someone brings it up, I'll be referring them here, no matter what side of the debate they fall on. I'm looking forward to more of your posts!

Its really a sad thing to see all how vaccine were not discovered yet when those numerous infrigment were really happening, im glad for the 21st century, things are better now.
Great post it is.

Things are better now because of hygiene and living standards have been improved. As stated in my article living conditions for the working poor greatly improved the health of the population despite the mandatory vaccines.

This is the key point.

Waiting to see an write-up on Edward Jenner, the selfless pioneer who created the smallpox vaccine which during his time was killing more than 10% of the population. We sometimes take our good health way too much for granted.

Excellent information you have shared with us all thanks a lot

Daily Learn some new from your post. Love to read it.

Vaccines against smallpox were not invented in 1850, but much earlier (1780s). The first mandatory vaccination program was in Bavaria in 1807.

And then of course it is to say that even though living conditions started to improve at the same time as vaccinations were getting more common, it's the latter that eradicated the virus. Why? Because they also eradicated the virus in regions where until today no significant improvement of living conditions has happened, like african/south american slums.

That is true, Edward Jenner at the end of 1700s took some pus from a cowpox pustule from Sarah Nelmes who was 9 year old milk maid. With that Jenner claimed he had found a cure for smallpox, which was around 1798. Enquiry page 154

He then inoculating an 8 year old James Phipps which he stated this patient would develop life long immunity from small pox... I read Jenner wasn't a doctor, he bought his degree without attending any accredited schools as stated by Walter Hadwen.
I posted links to the exact history to keep things simple...

I started with my narration in the 1850s with the introduction to vaccination program and the steady decline of this disease. I will go into the power players and their discovers in my next paper.

Cowpox and Smallpox are two distinct diseases. Cowpox only infects cows that are in milk and only infects female animals. Smallpox doesn’t care about the sex of the animal it infects and manifest differently, it is also incredibly infectious.

I want to know the history behind mandatory vaccines, who benefited financially...

I will also go into vaccinating newborns with incomplete immune systems, pregnant women, and people who are in poor health because of famine and war...

My question is with the introduction of sanitation programs which boosted the health of the poor and provided protection from the spread of the disease.... was smallpox on the way of burning itself out? Many papers claim this may be the case which includes South Africa.

By the 1850s, when compulsory vaccination was first introduced in England, smallpox was already in retreat, though it still killed more than 5000 people every year and left many more disfigured with pock-marks.

a) your source discusses very well the problematic reflection done by Durbach. Also, it would be nice if your quotes would reflect the whole picture here:

"Thus Durbach begins by dismissing nineteenth century smallpox statistics as 'problematic' and, conceding that 'how well nineteenth century vaccination actually worked is a complicated historical question', makes no further attempt to answer it."

"most epidemiologists are agreed that we owe the decline of mortality from smallpox mainly to vaccination"

"by the 1890s, when the anti-vaccine campaign reached its peak, annual mortality was down to a few hundred"

For me it looks like this: they started with vaccines in the late 18th century. they saw first effects (a decline), so they made it mandatory. they suffered some setbacks (epidemics), maybe due to poor vaccine quality, but in general it worked (moratality down to few hundreds in 1890).

b) It is well known that south africa is much closer to western standards than many other african countries. I was talking in particular about countries like Somalia, where living conditions are not much - if at all - better than in England in the 1800s.

Thank you for the kind advice, I will work on my quotes with my next paper. Also as you know there are many different stories out there regarding vaccination and whether it was actually scientific or just quackery. We can quote our educated sources and argue till the milk cow comes home...

Your knowledge is amazing @reddust

my head hurts, I don't like to write about this data, we humans are very cruel, thank you @dobartim

We have immune systems for a reason and we need to keep it fit

But we must take a truely holistic approach to health. Psychological health and balance is the most important thing to worry about in my opinion

good post friend I liked a lot I hope you can see my last post, I'll follow you
