Beauty is in oddness .. because it's odd it catches your eye and you start imagining the story by yourself, that's art itself, the process of artistic thinking.
In my last days , as these were very hectic days for me , busy in my friends marriage ceremony and after that planned with friends to visit different museums to get some knowledge about the art and history .Finally visited the museums collected information about the art and history and sharing with you all people.
Susanne court and her family lived in Limoges, central France in about 1600. They were famous about their skills in different techniques of painting enamel on copper. This beautiful enamel plate demonstrate Court's rich gilding , jewels like color and pale flash tone. It shows the story from Greek mythology Apollo and the Muses on Mount Helicon.
This 2 meter tall marble statue depicts the Roman emperor Septimius Severus. He was born in AD 145 in Leptis Manga, modern day Libya. The first roman emperor born in Africa . Severus died in Eboracum ( now the city of York in Northern England)
Severus fondly remembered as a successful consolidator in Roman power . British museum has chosen Septimius Severus as an example of the closely intertwined histories of Europe and Africa.
Bronze sculpture is one of the most famous depictions of a cat from ancient Egypt.
It's known as Gayer Anderson cat, and has gold ear, nose ring and the silver collar .It is the representation of goddess Bastet, who was often shown in cat form and was particularly popular in Egypt's Late Period(661-332 BC) when this was made. Bastet was the goddess of cats, daughter of the sun god and a protector of mothers. the sculpture weighs around 8kg without its base and is hollow inside. When it was X rayed by our scientists, it was found to have a large crack in its back that had been finally repaired.
This is the outer coffin of Henutmehyt , a women who lived in ancient Egypt during 19 Dynasty ( about 1295-1186 BC). It was believed that finely decorated coffin would provide the spirit with substitute if mummy perished. It's covered with hieroglyphic inscriptions and painted images of gods and is made from cedarwood.
