Located in Kano State, North-Western Nigeria, the Ancient Kano City Walls were built as defensive walls to protect the dwellers of ancient city of Kano. The construction of these great historic walls took place around 1095 and 1134 and completed in the mid 14th century.
The Ancient Kano City Walls consisted of "Dala" Hill where it was founded, "Kurmi" Market and the Emir’s Palace.
Originally, the Ancient Kano City Walls had an estimated height of 30 to 50 ft and about 40 ft thick at the base with 15 gates around it. Hmm! Isn't that amazing?
Today, these giant historic walls still stand as major tourist attraction in Africa.
