3 Stone Buddha Statues of Shilla Dynasty in Namsan Mountain.

in history •  7 years ago

Gyeongju was an open museum. The relics were scattered in Gyeongju widely.

I heard there were 3 Buddha statues of Shilla dynasty near Namsan mountain. It was said that these 3 statues had been abandon for more than 1000 years under the ground.

Recently these statues were brought near Namsan in Gyeongju.

When I got to there, there was a small Buddhist temple.
It was very calm and quiet.
I looked around this temple slowly.

The pagoda was impressive.
The pagoda seemed to be assembled with various part of scattered pagodas.

_3110958.JPG

The 3 Buddha statues were near the temple along the road to the entrance of mountain.

_3110964.JPG

The building was built to protect Statues from the rain and the snow.

_3110963.JPG

It was written in the pamphlet the central statue was the most well sculpted, but in my opinion the left was better than that.

Below is the central Buddha.
The face of Statue was broken.

_3110968.JPG

Below is the left Buddha
Left Buddha looked more delicate than others in my eyes.

It was interesting to look at people bowing to Buddha Statues.

They seemed to believe these Buddha statue had a mysterious power.

People bowing to the Statues were very sincere.

Hola @slowwalker

Relics of the past that should be conserved, travel in passing the time until now, the record becomes a means of a history of civilization of a nation. A great nation is a nation that values its history.

While the Buddha statue may have mysterious powers, I would probably bow to them out of respect for their meaning.

Religion is a very powerful thing.

very? long time? and a history for the people? of korea?and has? its own meaning for? the people of korea? success make??????

In Pakistan lot of Buddah things exists , do visit

Is it a museum or temple? Are the most of korean people follow the buddhism.?I think these statues are very strong example of architectural work done by Shilla dynasty.you have mentioned that when you reached to Budhha temple you became quiet and calm,so is the case with mine .When i go to any temple i become calm and sit there in search of some drops of spirituality.
The place where this museum is situated is very charming.I think this a better place to get relax and get refresh quickly.
This old statues symbolise the development of civilisation millions years ago.People bowing down to statues with folding hands call namaskar pose in our India.Namaskar shows the respect and a sign of humbleness. It also urges blessings from god.
Nice photography and excellent post.

i guess it just goes to show that every country in the world is rich with a unique tradition, culture and belief and they make it the source of their strength not just physically or emotionally but most specially spiritually as well, and this belief unites ones country.

I feel like going there one more time. I went to the palce when I was really young and didn't have a chance to go again.

Beautiful pictures, but I feel we are greater than whatever we make with our hands

It’s amazing how detailed is everything there! Your country looks really beautiful!

Beautiful post! I went last year for two months to South Korea and absolutely fell in love! Still haven't finished writing about all the places I visited and things I did!

It is Good to pay homage as a Buddists @slowwalker
