The Characteristics of the relics in Bronze Age Before Shilla Dynasty.

in history •  7 years ago

The relics of Gyeongju National Museum were displayed in chronological order. As entering into the museum, the relics of the bronze age were displayed at the entrance.

What I saw first was a piece of wooden boat. It was really amazing thing that this wooden piece could have lasted beneath the earth for 2 thousand years at least.

Some one could say that this piece had nothing important in academic or realistic perspective. But as soon as looking at this small piece of wood, I felt something hot in my mind.
It looked as if I had a direct communication with people who had made this ship.

The representative relics in the bronze age were the stone tools in Korean peninsular. The bronze tool seemed to have been used for the ceremony or for showing the authority of the rulers.

The phenomenon and the characteristics of the bronze age were various according to the regions all over the world. Each region has it’s unique and specific character.

In Korean peninsular, the delicate stone tools were widely used for usual tools of daily life.
In excavation site of the bronze age, the main objects were the delicate stone tools.

The representative bronze relics were the sword in Korean peninsular. The sword which have been found in Korean peninsular has it’s unique characteristics. The shape of the sword is quite different from others. The appearance of the sword looked like an music instrument, ‘Bipa’

The ‘Bipa’ type of bronze sword is estimated as a symbol of political power. This type of bronze sword have been excavated only in Korean peninsular and Manchuria. The scholars estimate the Bipa style bronze sword as the decisive proof to confirm the differences of the origin of the culture and the history between Korea and China.

In bronze age, there seemed to be existed Gochoson as a form of Chiefdom. The ‘Bipa’ type of the bronze sword is believed as a symbol of political power of Chiefdom which had existed in Korean peninsular and Manchuria.

So It is very important to study the history of Manchurial and Central Asia to understand history of Korea. Korean history could be well understand in the perspective view in these reason.

In the museum, one bronze sword of ‘Bipa’ style was displayed with a perfect feature.

P2040045.JPG

It was amazing that this sword could have kept it's perfect feature under the ground for more than 2 thousand years.
Most of swords which had been excavated was corroded severely like below.

P2040044.JPG

It was interesting to look at the sword imagining stories relating to the sword.

Who was an owner of this sword ?
May be the owner of this sword was a political leader of a chiefdom which had been existed in the area of Gyeongju city before Shilla Dynasty.

Steemians enjoy going to the museum with you.......appreciate the photographs and your very careful descriptions of the photographs.....interesting to hear you verbalise your thoughts with regard to the makers of the small ship.

Tools and swords and more......all of which man cannot do without......lovely symetry and balance is in every piece.

Wishing you and yours all the best.

Cheers.

Sword look like music instrument, because Martial-Art look like a dance :D

Here's a 3,000 year old sword excavated in remarkably good condition from a construction site in Scotland:

Amazingly it is still fully intact.

For your information, Gyeongju city is like a herb of all the culture that bloomed in Shilla dynasty. A very renowned historical city.

So that korean students would go field trip there very often.

You get to visit there at least 3 times in your childhood if u r korean

There are whole lot more to see and learn about the city and country that were there before..

I do look forward to more awesome postings!

Thank you very much for telling stories that even Koreans may not know or neglect.

Very informative. It is always pleasure to learn about your own country

Thank you for information

In Asia the Bronze Age was a time of the further development of previously existing urban civilizations (Mesopotamia, Elam, Egypt, and Syria) and of the formation of new urban civilizations (Harappa in India; Yin China). Outside this region of the most ancient class societies and states, cultures were developing that made use of metal objects, including bronze ones, and the disintegration of the primitive system accelerated (in Iran and Afghanistan).

Thank you for your explanattion

Very interesting article. I learned a lot of new things for myself. I did not think that there were once swords in the form of musical instruments. Thank you for this amazing article. Good luck to you and kind regards.

Очень интересная статья. Я узнал много нового для себя. Я не думал, что когда-то были мечи в форме музыкальных инструментов. Спасибо за эту удивительную статью. Удачи вам и добра.

спосибо большое

Look at this one! 😉🤙

Bolts and bolt shafts in an abode going back to the Bronze Age, found in Yeoryang-ri, Jeongseon-firearm County, Gangwon-do Province.

really nice photo
Thank you so much

Was bronze not used by everybody because the metals were rare in that region or because its use was limited by law to chieftains as a symbol of power?

in my guess, both possibilities are probably reasonable for your question

Excellent question! I am working my way up to reading this book: Mapping the Chinese and Islamic worlds Cross Cultural Exchange in Pre Modern Asisa I am still reading this book however and have made a few articles relating to it as it brings up so many more research questions as yours: A Splendid Exchange: How Trade Shaped the World I find it funny to learn about our ancestors trying out fire for food and for cooking rocks! Can you imagine? Took some time to figure out copper and it couples with the club. Hey that tribe over there has club technology. I know how about some light weight metal. Boys, cook up some rocks and let's invent Armour and helmets with leather and bronze. There that's the head banger warrior spirit. You can follow the trade routes from the metal mining camps and indeed this shaped how civilizations evolved. Hwa rang Jesuits can you get for Olympian gold?

Thank you for explanation

History. Wow . The untold stories behind those artifacts would definitely be amazing. If you to hear the stories please as do well to share. Will be going through your page

Wow..this is a good research, historical and ancient

Helpfulp artical, and its a good post

You really work hard to post. Keep it up! Thanks for info. It's been a decade I see bronze relics since school age. Hope to visit Gyungju one day.

;))

It's amazing to think about how old that piece of wood is. Not only was it below the ground for two thousand years but they probably used a very old tree to build the boat. I wonder how many thousands of years ago that tree broke through the soil.

It is mysterious that the trees can last for such a long time below the ground.

Going to resteem your post.

Nice your post

Very nice article. I feel it supplements details I expressed in an article I wrote recently: Hwa rang Jesuits can you get for Olympian gold? It also touches upon another sensitive subject: The Manchurian Candidate is a 1962 American black and white neo-noir Cold War suspense thriller film scripted by George Axelrod, from the 1959 Richard Condon novel The Manchurian Candidate, produced by Axelrod and John Frankenheimer, directed by Frankenheimer, and starring Frank Sinatra. The Hwa Rang warriors of the Korean Kingdom of Silla in A.D. 576 having symbolic logical social convention similarities as the Rose of Sharon, flower warriors, with the Jesuits a few centuries later, Children's Crusade, may also be consider in books I mention from this article as well relating your article concerning the Shilla Dynasty: Splendid Cross Cultural Exchange of Power and Plenty Thanks for your article. I took lessons at Kuk Sol Won here in Austin and a boxing sparing sport at Richard Lord's Boxing Gym said he traded a sword with Master Lee for lessons at Kuk Sol Won when I took lessons there and they changed their name to Mu Sol Won in Austin, Texas; and that sparing sport mentioning he did not realize the swords actual value being a decimal or two place difference for the lessons he received. Talk about a life lesson! Cultural exchange and understanding culture and history helps all children of God here on our one earth. Thanks for sharing your article. Studying the culture of Korea is interesting as well cultural comparison and contrast globally.

;))

Well i really like visiting these historical places because they give us a view of how our ancestors develop their culture and how well they stored these things for so much long period,

I also agree with you that these swords are crafted very differently as compared to the usual swords in today's world and thanks for explaining about "Bipa" that really helps to understand the shape of these swords.

I also blog about travel sometimes and you can check out my recent post about my visit to a very different and historical place in india and please give me your feedback on how to improve my travel blogs like you. Travel With Me
