The Relics Of King Muryeong From Baekje Dynasty

in history •  7 years ago

As entering into the museum, the first relic waiting for me was a silver cup which was found during the excavation of the tomb of Muryeong, 25th King of Baekje Kingdom.
King Muryeong had lived from 462 to 523 AD.

Museum in Gongju seemed to be dedicated to the relics from the tombs of King Muryeong.
There was simple introduction for the history of early Baekje, but main hole was filled with the relics of King Muryeong.

This tomb was only one excavated among Baekje kings tombs. Others had been stolen during Japanese occupation.

It was a luck that tomb of King Muryeong was not stolen by Japanese. The tomb was located under the ground and the entrance was concealed.

As entering into the room for the relics from tomb of King Muryeong. The Marking stone was displayed. With this stone, they found out the owner of this tomb was King Muryeong.

The queens marking stone was displayed together.

There were displayed metal coins found in the tomb. The coins was made in China. And this coins showed us the exchange between Baekje and China.

Next thing waiting for us was an animal of legend keeping the tomb. This animal was very impressive, so I took pics from different direction

_4130074.JPG

It was impressive there was coins in front of the animal. These coins must be the travel money for the other world.

The coffins were located after the animal. That was made with Japanese Golden Pine trees.

Actually it meant that here was a close relationship between Baekje and Japan.
The Royal family of Japan believed to be originated from Baekje Kingdom.

Inside of the tomb was displayed as below

Let's look at the relics more carefully from next posting

every royal and powerful dynasty left the culture and historical evidence, the kingdom of Baekje, one of the oldest kingdoms in korea leaving abundant and valuable historical evidence.

I love museums and the amazing stories they hold. Once you step through the doors, it's like going on an exciting adventure but it's all in the imagination with excavated relics as proof of these tales.

They always tell us about European history and its knights, but Asian history is also very interesting, but unknown to the West.

Thanks for the interesting post)))

fascinating, I captivated this story very much, you have an incredible gift, I am faithful, I love antiquity. Art is the perfection of nature. Nature made one world and art another. Art goes beyond its time and takes part of the future.

The pictures are sharp and is very clear. The content is very organize and so interesting topic. This will be my inspiration in starting here on steemit.

I love this, so much to learn and increasing our knowledge is one of the most important thing we can do in a lifetime.
I wonder then why so many people trade their valuable time for mindless entertainment instead of knowledge that can contribute to becoming a better human being

@slowwaker thanks for your insisting wish to let us know about korean culture, i have learnt from you about it. May be when japanese invaded this place din´t want to do any harm because they knew about the conection korean people had with them, read this words that akihito said:

"I, for my part, feel a certain affinity with Korea, since it is recorded in the Chronicles of Japan that Emperor Kammu's mother was of the line of King Muryong of Baekje."

Muryeong King expanded his contact with China and Japan and after his dead he was considered a peaceful king of military politics and that may be one of the reason why his tomb was not violated

This will surely rain of marvel paintings and stories :)

Asian culture is so amazing, thanks for sharing this interesting story!

photography is very good, and history is very meaningful @slowwalker
