The fact side of The Guinness book of world records

Everyone knows and loves this series of books that have been around for ages and with a new release every year, there is a world of investigated records, facts and endless amount of human achievement for us to explore.

Hugh Beaver had an idea of creating a book of record while he was the Managing Director of the Guinness Brewery during the early 1950’s. Hugh later attends a shooting party in County Wexford. Hugh and the host got into an argument over the fastest game bird in Europe. They fail to find the answer in any of the reference books that where available

The first addition of this famous book was first published in 1955 after Hugh had help from two brothers, Norris and Ross McWhirter. The brothers worked 13 hours a day seven days a week to have this book published. It was one of the best sellers and still is after 62 years (1955-2017). Little did the brothers know that they were not only writing a book but creating a huge brand for the future.

People all around the world want a piece of the action which is why this book is so successful. Just to have a Guinness record on your name is an honour.
