Ye Olde Viking Mead

in history •  6 years ago

Mead is made by fermenting pure honey, using methods as old as history, in fact it's the oldest fermented drink known to mankind. In ancient times mead was 'nectar' to the Greek Gods. To the Vikings it was the honeymoon drink, who believed it to have the virtues of an aphrodisiac.

A fantasy lover for years it was high time I tried a bottle. So I went out and bought some. Spiced mead with a bouquet of honey and citrus, and added zest from the spices, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Drinking this by the roaring hearth while reading a good book is an experience I would recommend to anyone.
