The Last Battle: When U.S. and German Soldiers Joined Forces in the Waning Hours of World War II in Europe by Stephen Harding
My rating: 3 of 5 stars
Devoted to a thorough investigation and account of this astonishing incident in the last days of the war in Europe, with US and Wehrmacht soldiers joining to fight the SS in defense of the fortress where the Germans had stashed their French Very Important Prisoners. The prisoners, refusing to stay out of the fighting, while not giving up their political bickering, are one of the most interesting angles.
I can not understand why the Iger Battke has never been filmed (with Sabbaton on the soundtrack with "Gangl and Lee --- set the prisoners free!")
