Sunderland, one of the most popular clubs in England, is returning to the Championship after spending four years in England's third division League One. In the 2016-17 season, the team in the red and white jersey went down to the championship after being relegated from the Premier League. The team then broke up so much that they were relegated to the third tier of English football after a shameful performance in the first season of the championship. Despite repeated attempts from there, Sunderland has not had much success in the last four years.

Finally, in February 2022, former Norwich coach Alex Neil took over the club. Holding his hand, they got 5th place in League One. In the semi-finals of the play-offs, Sheffield beat Wycombe 2-1 aggregate to advance to the final at Wembley. Sunderland finally got the coveted promotion with a 2-0 win over Wycombe at Wembley. In the coming season, one of the richest teams in the history of England will definitely try hard to secure their place in the championship.

I am happy for Sunderland though but I was rooting for Wycombe in the final match. And my love for Akinfenwa was one reason why I wanted them to win; it would've made him so proud and satisfied if they got promoted because this seems to be last season, he's done with pro football .
But well, the best team won and it's all good 👍

Thanks for going through my post.

It's a pleasure. It was an interesting read..

Thanks

I have a few friends that are lifelong Sunderland supporters and have been really devastated over the past couple of years. Although I don't really follow the sport I am happy to see that the rebuild appears to be a success!
