It is the final. As I thought Spain went on the attack from the start and England just stayed their ground defensively. This lasted the first 15 minutes. After this the game became more equal and England made several runs towards the Spanish goal and also had more possession. The last 15 minutes were again controlled by Spain, but we have to note that Spain had no shots on goal during these 45 minutes. England had one shot on goal on the 46 minute, Foden hit a ball which was easily controlled by Unai Simon. A game that was not fluid, little in the way of excitement and both goalkeepers were not really tested. A kind of physical game, but hardly any fouls which is contradictory in itself. I did not like this first half, let's hope the second half is better.
Well it did start out better for Spain, two minutes in and they scored their goal via Nico Williams, a good goal too. And a minute later they nearly scored a second goal via Dani Olmo, who just missed. Actually after the goal England has only had a couple of chances, while Spain has been much more prolific. Watkins and Palmer are in, Kane and Mainoo out, still no difference. Well there is a difference Palmer just scored. Great goal too, again Southgates subs working out for England.
I guess that is it, Spain just scored their second goal, I really don't think England will come back from this, it is just too late in the game, and Spain just has to control the ball. England did have a double chance from a corner but the Spanish defenders saved it. I think in the first half there was a penalty not called for Spain, a Rice foul on Morata, but I also think the second Spanish goal could have been offside. Ok, the game is over Spain are champions. Deserved champions I think, they were the best team during the whole competition.
