I was able to watch the Liverpool-Rangers game and that was great as I am a Liverpool fan. The game started out as I thought it would Liverpool completely on attack. And by the eighth minute they were already ahead with a very good Alexander-Arnold free kick. After this Liverpool had almost complete possession of the ball, but McGregor the excellent 40 year old Rangers goalkeeper saved a few shots that should have been goals. So the first half finished with Liverpool ahead by one goal.
The second half started out the same way until Liverpool were awarded a penalty shot which was scored by Salah. After this Liverpool's possession went down and Rangers were able to hold the ball for longer periods, still McGregor again foiled several Liverpool attempts. Rangers nearly scored around the 85th minute which was their best moment of the game. After this Liverpool controlled the ball until the end of the game. So now we Have Napoli with nine points and Liverpool with six just about in the next round. I think Rangers and Ajax will fight it out for the Europa League place.
Today I predicted four outcomes right, but what really surprised me was Napoli thrashing Ajax 1-6 in Amsterdam, that one I never expected. Ajax has a very good team and of course you can lose a game but by that score it is, I expect, highly traumatizing for players and fans. I also saw parts of Inter-Barcelona, and I was surprised by the bad work of the referee, there were several very clear plays he nor VAR saw. No, I don't think they had any relevance on the game as Inter were better, but it is not good to see such a bad level in the referees.
I think Barcelona is paying for the history of Super League, the penalty for Dumfries' hand seemed clear to all but the referee (Slovenian, like Ceferin) 😄.
Napoli is a very strong team, they have hit all the right shots in the market and have a great physical shape. They will not be able to keep up at this level all season, but some victories (4-1 Liverpool, 3-0 Rangers and 6-1 Ajax) are never achieved by pure chance.
